Code, 40-1301 to 40-1310 40-1301 Definitions For the purposes of this chapter, the term: (1) "Board" means the Board of Consumer Claims Arbitration for the District of Columbia established by ง 40-1303. This chapter shall be known and may be cited as the "Motor Vehicle Warranty Enforcement Act." 681.101 Legislative intent. The Legislature recognizes that a motor vehicle is a major consumer purchase and that a defective motor vehicle undoubtedly creates a hardship for the consumer. The Legislature further recognizes that a duly franchised motor vehicle dealer is an authorized service agent of the manufacturer. It is the intent of the Legislature that a good faith motor vehicle warranty complaint by a consumer be resolved by the manufacturer within a specified period of time; however, it is not the intent of the Legislature that a consumer establish the presumption of a reasonable number of attempts as to each manufacturer that provides a warranty directly to the consumer.
